Keratin, Brazilian and the rest of the smoothing menu

Frizz gone, blow-dry time halved, and hair that behaves in August in the Valley. Janna does every smoothing treatment we offer, and clients name her for it in their reviews.

Four treatments, four different jobs

Keratin treatment is the workhorse: protein is worked into the hair and sealed in with heat, filling the gaps that make hair frizz. It does not make curly hair straight — it makes it smooth, softer and far quicker to dry. From $250.

Brazilian Blowout is the stronger, faster version of the same idea, and it is the one to ask about if what you want is a genuinely sleek finish rather than a tamed curl. From $300, and shorter in the chair than a keratin.

Hair botox is not a straightener at all despite the name — it is a deep filler for hair that is porous, over-processed or snapping. Ask for it when the problem is condition rather than shape.

Nanoplastica and organic straightening are the gentler formulas, aimed at people who want the smoothing without the harshest chemistry. Janna will tell you which of the four suits your hair once she has felt it — and she will say so if the honest answer is a conditioning treatment at $50 instead.

What to expect on the day and after

Expect two to three hours: a clarifying wash to open the cuticle, the product worked through section by section, then a long, careful pass with the flat iron that seals it in. The ironing is the part that cannot be hurried — it is where the result is actually made.

Afterwards, leave the hair alone. No washing, no tying it up, no clips or tucking it behind your ears for the first stretch — creases set. Then switch to a sulphate-free shampoo, because sulphates strip the treatment out faster than anything else you can do. Done that way, most people get three to five months out of it, and it fades gradually rather than dropping off a cliff.

If you colour your hair as well

Colour first, smoothing second, in that order and preferably in the same visit. A smoothing treatment can shift a fresh toner slightly, so it is better for the colour to go on underneath. One of our clients came in for her first hair colour and keratin straightening together and left happy with both — that is the sequence we recommend.

If you are lightening heavily at the same time, we will talk about spacing the two appointments. Bleach and a flat iron at 230°C in the same afternoon is more than most hair wants.

Janna

Keratin, Brazilian, hair botox, organic straightening and Nanoplastica — every smoothing treatment we offer. She takes all other services as well, except men's.

  • Keratin treatment (Creatine)150 min$250and up
  • Brazilian Blowout hair straightening90 min$300and up
  • Conditioning treatment30 min$50
  • Women's straight blow-dry60 min$50and up

Where a price says “and up”, that is the starting figure for the service as listed — very long or very thick hair needs more product and more time. You are told the number at the chair, before anything is mixed or applied, not afterwards.

In their words

This is a really honest review based on my experience. From the moment I walked into the salon, I felt so welcomed and comfortable. The place is beautiful, and everyone there is super kind and caring. They offer pretty much everything—hair, nails, hair removal, facials—so it’s like a one-stop place to take care of yourself. The prices are also really reasonable,, which is great for the quality you get. The owner, Nara, is amazing, especially with men’s haircuts. The whole team works so well together and really tries to make sure you leave happy, even if you don’t have a lot of time. Janna does great keratin treatments, Iza is really good with hair color and blowouts, and Armen does beautiful cuts and blowouts for both men and women. There are also two nail techs named Anna, and both are really good. I personally go to Anna E (with black hair) because she was the first one I went to, and I’ve loved her work ever since. Overall, it’s just a really nice salon with talented people who genuinely care about their clients. I always leave feeling happy and taken care of.

Before you book

Questions we get asked

Anything not answered here — call the salon and ask. Someone who does this every day will pick up.

How much is a keratin treatment?
Keratin starts at $250 and a Brazilian Blowout starts at $300. The exact price depends on length and thickness, and you are told it before anything is applied.
How long does it last?
Typically three to five months. It fades out gradually rather than growing out with a line, so there is no awkward stage. Washing with sulphate-free shampoo is the single thing that makes the biggest difference to how long you get.
What is the difference between keratin and a Brazilian Blowout?
Both smooth. Keratin is gentler and leaves more of your natural movement, which suits people who want their curl softened rather than removed. Brazilian Blowout is stronger and faster, and gets closer to genuinely sleek. Janna will recommend one over the other once she has seen your hair.
Will it make my curly hair straight?
It will loosen the curl and take out the frizz, and your blow-dry will take half the time. It is not a permanent straightener and it will not turn tight curls poker straight. If someone promises you that from a keratin, be careful.
Can I wash my hair afterwards?
Not straight away, and not tied up either — clips and hair bands leave creases that set in. Janna will give you the exact window for the formula she used before you leave the salon.
Is it safe if I am pregnant?
Ask your doctor first, and tell us before you book. Some smoothing formulas are not recommended during pregnancy, and we would rather move the appointment than have that conversation afterwards.
Do you do hair botox and Nanoplastica?
Yes — along with organic straightening. All of it is Janna's chair. Call and describe what your hair does and she will tell you which one is actually the right one.
