When you want real lift, even coverage and the grey properly dealt with, foils still beat everything else. Full head or partial, toned to the shade you actually asked for, with the root plan agreed before we start.
Real work by this salon, published by the salon itself — real work, with no filters added by us. More in the gallery.
A full head means foils taken all the way round and through the back — the choice when you want an overall change of level, or when grey is spread across the whole head. A partial covers the top and sides, the parts that show, and costs less because it uses less of everything. Face-framing is smaller again: a handful of foils around the parting and the front, which is often all a grown-out colour needs to look deliberate again.
Which one you need is a two-minute conversation at the chair, and it is worth having honestly — we would rather sell you a partial that suits your grow-out than a full head you did not need.
Grey hair has no pigment left to lift, so it behaves differently from the hair around it. Wrapped in foil, the lightener sits at full strength against the strand and stays warm, which is what gets stubborn wiry greys to take. Painted freehand and left in the open air, the same product works more gently — lovely on pigmented hair, unreliable on grey.
That is the honest reason to choose highlights over balayage when grey is the thing you are trying to solve. One of our clients wrote about exactly this after four hours in the chair with thick, coarse, part-curly hair — cut, thinned and highlighted so that the grey stopped showing and the result still looked natural.
Lightener only takes colour out. Everything you actually see — whether the blonde reads icy, beige, honey or gold — is decided by the toner that goes on after the rinse, and it is where most disappointing blondes are lost. We tone at the basin with the shade agreed against your skin, in daylight, not against a swatch book under salon spots.
Toner is also what fades first. A gloss at eight to ten weeks costs a fraction of the full service and buys you a couple more months before the foils need doing again. A root touch-up is $65.
Who does it
Cuts, blow-dries, colour, highlights, hair styling and creative cuts, and men's cuts too. Armen takes on everything on the menu.
Balayage, ombré, highlights, AirTouch and bleaching. She takes all other services as well, except men's.
Where a price says “and up”, that is the starting figure for the service as listed — very long or very thick hair needs more product and more time. You are told the number at the chair, before anything is mixed or applied, not afterwards.
In their words
This was my first time coming to this Salon and I really didn't know if my hair was gonna come out the way I really wanted. At first I was not sure if I was gonna like the results noting from previous experiences my hair didn't really come out the way I envisioned from other Salons..but honestly, after the 4 hours (I have really THICK course hair both wavy, curly & straight) to cut/layer, thin & highlight my hair so that I didn't see the "gray" and still make it look natural.. I really love how it came out. The staff also had good working dynamics, I saw how Joly & Nara were helpful to each other in making sure the customers are really cared for and attended. They also seem to have a variety of services aside from hair..I will definitely be coming back for more cuts & styles..it was a blessing to have found this place! Thank you Joly for my beautiful hair!
